The festival is all about dissolving the bad and protecting others like Goddess Kali did. It falls on the next day of Dhanteras. According to Hinduism, this festival is celebrated on the 14 th day of the half dark moon and the whole day is allotted in worshiping Mahakali or Goddess Shakti. People believe that on that day, Goddess Kali killed the most evil demon Narakasura. On the auspicious day of Diwali – people draw various designs of Rangolion the floor in Indian homes on festive occasions.Today being the second day of Diwali, people are celebrating Naraka Chaturdashi. Naraka Chaturdashi has great significance people simply believe that who performs this ritual can avoid going to Narak (Hell). The word ‘ Diwali‘ is derived from Sanskrit word “Deepavali” which means “a series of lights”. Diwali is also known as Deepawali, is celebrated on 30th Oct, 2016. Diwali is a five day festival which started from 28th October, 2016.
